Chisel Point Punch

Chisel Point Punch

Chisel Point Punch

This punch configuration is uncommon and normally only found on Whitney punches. The very sharp tool angle resembles a rooftop, however machining considerations cause this type of tool to be significantly more expensive to sharpen than a normal rooftop.

Notice: In some cases it is not possible to exactly duplicate the extremely sharp angles used on these tools. In most cases the reduction in the sharpness of the angle does not impair the ability of the tool to punch most metals. We will contact you before sharpening punches with an extremely sharp angle to make sure a reduction in the angle will work in your application.

Valley/Concave Punches

Valley Punch

Valley Punch

Valley and Concave punches with damage to the "valley" or "throat" of the punch require labor intensive re-work that usually causes the expense of service to approach or exceed the cost of a new punch.

For this reason we only offer "Touch Up" sharpening service on these punches.

As these punches are most often used for "nibbling" most of the wear occurs on the "flats" of the tool. The touch up service, which grinds just the flat surfaces of the punch will normally restore the tool to working condition.

Notice: Because only the flats are ground, the valley portion of the tool will diminish in size as the tool is sharpened in this manner, eventually causing the valley to disappear.
